Quiet Resorts - Kauai and Big Island

Are there any hotels (beachfront) on either Kauai or the Hawaii that do not allow children? (I don't mean to offend anyone, we just would prefer to not be around small children).
Also, of the Hyatt and Sheraton on Kauai - which would have the best beach?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know of any resorts that do not allow kids, but I can easily answer you beach question. The beach at the Hyatt Kauai is not a good swimming beach. The surf is way too rough. It is gorgeous from a rugged natural beauty standpoint, monk seals breach on the beach on a regular basis etc... The beach at the Sheraton is the best of both worlds. There are two crescent sections, one a little more sheltered than the other so that within the same small length of beach you have a sheltered shallow cove and then an area with harder surf for boogie boards or whatever. Both beaches are quiet and clean. Having said this, the Hyatt is the nicer of the two hotels by far. The pool is a fantasy style that tiers down the natural slope of the land, I do remember an adult only area as well. It was at the begining or top so that you didn't have to worry about kids swimming past or hanging around the area.Have you considered renting a private vacation home to solve the children issue? Just a thought...

Although the Princeville does allow children, it didn't have very many when we visited...probably the price...and it was very quiet, with it's own beach...and pool on the beach..First class place, i don't think you'll find many kids there and I don't know of any place that doesn't allow kids.
Orchid on BI also, we were there a couple of years ago.. and it was quiet...I don't remember seeing kids, if so there weren't very many.

twilight:

If you arrange your trip when school is in session, you should avoid most of the problem. Some people take their kids out from school for vacation, but that should be rare.
If you are really allergic to children, the Kona Village Resort on the Big Island is couples only for the month of September.
As mentioned before, the Hapuna Beach Prince is a good choice for the Big Island, it is very quiet. I went to the Four Seasons Resort on the Big Island last month, after the holidays, and it was very quiet, very few children. Also, FS has an adults only pool.
As for Kauai, I would recommend the Princeville, as it is much less kid oriented than the resorts in the Poipu area. The Hyatt Regency in Poipu has an adults only pool, but it is very popular with families, so you should avoid it during the summer or school holidays.
