Quiet beach house

We're a family that likes the Outer Banks area but would like to try a different beach. We find the Outer Banks attractive because it is quiet, no hotels and mostly residential properties. We're unsure of where to even begin to look for a new beach for the 2003 summer season...any information would be a great help!

TM, I think it would help if you gave some parameters. Are you looking to rent a house for a week, 2, the entire summer? Price? Stay on the East coast? How far north, etc. etc.? What activities?

Garden City, SC (15 minutes South of Mrytle Beach). Check out Dunes.com We have been renting houses from them for about 15 years.

Since this was in the Virginia section, Sandbridge. Located just South of Virginia Beach, away from all the touristy stuff you might not like and just North of the NC border and the Outer Banks. It is a very quiet area with just houses.

Try the Corolla area in the Outer Banks. Outside of July and August it will be very quiet. Resort Quest has great listings of homes there.
