quickest way from L.A. (SVF) to Monterey
 

We'll be going to Monterey this Friday and would like to get up there are quickly as possible.
We'll be taking our time on the way back driving down Hwy 1 through Big Sur, etc and spending the night in Cambria.

Should we drive up the 5 frwy and cut over on the 152??
OR
should we drive up the 101??

Mapquest's suggestion was to take 5 frwy and it would take approx 5 1/2 hrs.

What time are you leaving L.A. on Friday, and from which end of the Valley?

Studio City and we'll leave no later then 8:00 a.m.

Timewise, I think that I5 would be slightly faster.

I've taken both 5 & 101 to Monterrey. 5 is faster.

Remember that you can always check in with 511 from a cellular phone to learn of any (reported) unusual traffic conditions.
