Quick NYC Theater question...

Wondering if you are allowed to bring a bag into the theater? We're traveling on the train today to go see the Lion King and I wanted to bring something bigger than a purse to put our umbrella's, directions, etc. into. Anyone know if they allow this? Thank you!!

I do know they often check the contents of bags as you enter, and I also know there is a check room where you can leave it. How big a bag you can take to your seat seems to be left to the whim of whatever usher happens to see you.

Enjoy the Lion King!!!

People bring all kinds of things into NY theaters...including "doggy bags" of food, shopping bags filled with purchases, etc.

Thanks for the quick responses! I decided to bring a smaller bag that can pass for a purse just in case. Thanks!!

You know, I was just reminded of a fairly recent Broadway show where there were two people with their 22"rolling suitcases at their seats. Everyone passing by them had to step over those suitcases.

Now let's talk about the people with their noisy plastic or cellophane bags stuffed with souveneirs that they keep rustling all through the show.

tahiti070904, yes, you can bring that bag. My wife often often carries a canvas tote with an umbrella, etc., to the theater. Occasionally, bags are searched; usually, they're not. But either, it's no problem to bring the bag. So, stick to your original plans.
