quick northeast getaway for me and toddler. driving distance from NYC

Greetings,

My toddler and I need a quick get away within driving distance of NYC (2 or 3 hours most). Looking for something scenic with accomodations with an indoor pool for the little guy (meaning no B&Bs). Budget - rooms not to exceed $175 a night. Any suggestions?
Probably looking for something that is normally a summer family vacation kind of place, which has discount rates for the off season.

Thanks in advance!

Try Gurney's Inn in Montauk. The Montauk Yacht Club may also have an indoor pool.I think the Tarrytown Hilton has a pool. Also look at the Norwich Spa in Connecticut. Have not stayed at these places in years so can't vouch for current condition although I do know that Gurney's still attracts lots of celebs to their spa for weekends.

Thanks, Gurneys looks perfect, just a little pricey for us though.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

How about a Holiday Inn in Kingston NY - it has the "holidome" - maybe some trips to Woodstock, or somewhere near there is supposedly worlds largest kalaeidoscope (sp?) ... also Vanderbilt & Roosevelt Mansions on the other side of the river & to the south, if toddler would be up to that.

I've gone to the Heritage Inn in Southbury, CT. It has a beautiful pool area and kind of a ski-lodge feel, even though it's a large hotel. I'm not sure if it's touristy enough for you, though.
It's also relatively inexpensive.

there are a number of properties in Sag Harbor that would fit the bill.

Sag Harbor, Long Island??? With a pool? I don't think so.

While a bit longer than 3 hours, you might try the Marriott Hotel in Newport, RI. There is an indoor pool and plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. We took our then 10 month old last summer and the hotel was extremely amenable to children. They had a playpen set up in our room and with a free teddy bear.

P.S. - If it isn't significantly more expensive, you might want to get a room on their Conceirge Floor. It includes breakfast and a late afternoon happy hour. Not having to wait at a restaurant for breakfast, made him significantly happier during the day.
