Quick Lunch Near MOMA

My kids (ages 6, 9 & 12) will be visiting MOMA in the morning and then heading to the Tenement museum for a 2pm tour. Can you recommend a quick lunch stop near MOMA? Thanks!

I actually love the Cafe on 2 in MOMA. It's not cheap, but the food is delicious and very fresh.

There are many of those breakfast type cafeterias in the area. Forget the name but there are chains and individuals.

I like Lyn's Cafe/Certe around the corner on West 55th Street (between 5th and 6th Aves): go past the takeout counter in the front for restaurant seating.

That area is full of moderately priced lunch spots, everything from delis with salads bars and sandwich counters (but limited if any seating) to pizza, Japanese, Indian, Chinese, etc. The blocks between 5th and 6th Aves of 55th and 56th Streets, especially, are good for browsing. I believe there's a Cafe Metro or Europa Cafe (a chain of shops with premade sandwiches, fresh salads and other staples) on 52nd between 5th and 6th.

Or if the weather's nice, maybe you want to experience a NYC steet cart? Again, there are lots in the area. Some are vendy-award winning, like the chicken gyro cart on 53rd closer to 6th Ave. These are hugely popular with the business workers in the area: find one with a line (popular means fresh and tasty), then find a bit of wall or some seats to sit in. There's a little area across from the MoMA that works well...

A last suggestion is Burger Heaven. A little pricey, but great burgers, huge salads, and superfast service. There are a couple in the area: one on 53rd between Madison and 5th Ave, and a larger one on the west side of Madison between 54th and 55th.

Look at menupages.com for reviews and menus! (For Lyn's, type in Certe.)

Why not head down to the lower east side to be near the tenement museum and have lunch at Katz's deli? They have great hot dogs.
