gardy,
just figured the more curious of the bunch would look it up ... The Native Hospital shop is a great rec. Don't know if it's what the OP is looking for, but for others seeking gifts the stuff as the Musk Ox Co-op is nice as well. http://www.qiviut.com/store/index.cf...TOKEN=68880254 |
Bear sculpture? Oh, no, just bring a bear cub! This will be a memory for the rest of your life, I guarantee it!

Brought back many ulu knifes. I used my ulu knife when chopping ingredients for salmon salad (mayonnaise, onion, etc.) It reminded me of my trip to Alaska when I used it.
I also bought silver jewelry with halibut symbols in a museum of natural history in Ketchikan that were made in Alaska. We bought totem poles made in Alaska. It wasn't easy finding things made in Alaska, but they're there if you look. We brought back salmon sealed in special wrap and this is okay to do. |
oops-knives...

cd, I didn't respond earlier because I honestly didn't know what had happened to the ulu since my last move. I can happily report that I unpacked it tonight and it is back at its place of honor on the windowsill. :-)

My Alaskan Ulu knife is great for chopping and cutting Seville Oranges for marmalade, and for hands that ache when having to cut up lots of anything!
But in Australia, they are available in lots of places. The souvenir I use most is the laminated placemat mat with the map of Alaska. Bit late now for advice, I see! What DID you bring back, samting? |
