Questions about LA
Hi -
I'll be traveling through LA next month on my way to Sydney, Australia, and I have a 12-hour lay-over in LA. I have an appointment in Agoura Hills in the late afternoon, and I am wondering how much I should figure for cab fare to get up there. While I travel quite frequently, LA is one city I've never been to, so I'm a little unsure of my way around. About how long should it take to get up to Agoura Hills from LAX? (I don't need to claim luggage, as that is going to be checked right through from USAir to Qantas.) Thanks for any help you can give me! Carol |
Taking a cab from LAX in the late afternoon to AH will cost you a fortune. It's at least 40 miles and can take an hour or an hour and a half at that hour.
Your much better bet would be to google, "LAX airport shuttle" and set up a round trip with one of these companies. Good luck. |
It's not a difficult drive,it's all freeway, though there could be a lot of traffic on the way. You could rent a car for about 50 bucks, probably.

Yes, unless someone else is paying for your taxi, try primetimeshuttle.com or supershuttle.com. Rent a car if you are comfortable with that.

Schedule a shuttle. A taxi will cost several hundred dollars (I am not kidding). It's about 30 miles (give or take a little) but it is wall to wall traffic in late afternoon if it's a weekday. Weekends are almost as bad.

If your appt is late afternoon, you could leave LAX early afternoon and have a nice scenic drive up through Malibu Canyon, instead of traveling via freeway. Take Pacific Coast Highway up to Malibu Cyn/Las Virgenes and then Mulholland Highway. It would probably take about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes.
Not sure what time your departure from LAX is, but leaving Agoura after 8pm and taking the freeways back to LAX shouldn't take more than 45 mins to 1 hour, rental car return at LAX is very easy. If you do decide to rent a car and take the drive, come back here to ask for precise directions. |
