questions about chicago and getaways around chicago
 

Hi,

We have been living in chicago for 2 years and unfortunately now we have to turnback to our country. we have only 1 week left and wondering what to do in the city. Also we are planning a daily romantic trip somewhere outside the chicago? Our main interest is photography. what do you recommend?

I would suggest either southwest Michigan (New Buffalo, Lakeside, Union Pier, etc.). Take the Skyway to 94E and exit at exit 1 in Michigan toward the lake. Go to Red Arrow Highway and check out the beaches, little towns and great restaurants and stores. It's about an 1-1.5 hrs. from downtown Chicago.Another option is Galena. Haven't been there but I've heard it's really nice.

Door County WI is very beautiful in the summer. I've also heard the east coast of Lake Michigan (the MI side) is very beautiful too. Macinack Island might be a good choice too. Do web searches on these places to see what interests you most.

Thank you all. 2 years is really so short for Chicago. There are lots of places to discover. Glad we are catching the blues festival. Just out of cruosity, what would you do in Chicago if you knew that this would be your last week and that the possibility of turning back is very little?
