questions about chicago
My husband and I will be going to Chicago the week of Labor Day and I have a few questions. We want to do the Ferris Wheel and miniature golf at Navy Pier-how long should we plan to spend there? Will the water taxis going to the Aquarium still be running after Labor Day? I read that we should go to the Aquarium first thing in the AM to avoid the crowds-does that still go for after Labor Day? Our hotel states it is "2 blocks" from Navy Pier-does that mean we can walk or is there a trolley we shoud take? Thanks!

Two blocks is a very easy walk from your hotel.

Also, you can book your Shedd Aquarium tickets online and I fecommend it so you don't have to stand in line.
In regard to my post above, I don't know what hotel you're staying in...W, Embassy Suites, Doubletree? but I lived within two-three blocks of the pier last time I lived in Chicago. |
We were just in Chicago and there was trolley that ran regularly. Check the site for more info. Note it does not run after labor day if that is when you will be there. Alternately two blocks wouldnt be much of a walk.

We are staying at the Embassy Suites Lakefront.

If you're at the Navy Pier, check out the fabulous stain glass, especially the Tiffany's, in the free Smith Museum. It is a narrow, long gallery space indoors on the Pier.

Embassy Suites is about a 15 minute walk to Navy Pier. There is no set schedule for the water taxi it should be running especialy on the weekends. The line should not be too bad but it still can be 1/2 hour wait.

From your hotel it is a very short walk. You can also walk south a few blocks and do the Chicago River Walk. You will want to include walking along the lakefront pathway too, much better than Navy Pier; it totals 30 miles of parkland with walking and bike paths.
