Question re: cabins at Zion NP Lodge
I have decided to accompany my husband on a business trip to Las Vegas in April, and we're going to fly out a couple of days early and spend the weekend at Zion NP. We've been once before, staying in Springdale and loved it, and this time we'd like to stay right in the park. Currently both motel rooms and cabins in the lodge are available for the dates we want, but I have a question. The description on the web site says that the motel rooms have queen beds, but the cabins have double beds. I'm inclined to go for a cabin, but I want to make sure we're not in an uncomfortably small bed (DH is a failrly large man). I want to reserve ASAP, so could someone who has stayed in a cabin please give me an opinion about the size of the beds? Thanks.

I've stayed in one and KNOW that we didn't have just a single double bed. I'm thinking it was two double beds, but I wouldn't bet on that.

We had two double beds in our cabin.

Thanks Patrick and richbutnot - I know that there are two beds per cabin, I was more concerned about the size of the bed. I guess that I'm not sure what size a double bed is VS a queen, and am wonderingif a double bed is too small to be comfortable for two people to share who are used to a roomier bed (yes, we could each have our own bed, but we prefer to share) :-)

Sara: there has been much serious debate (too serious I think) on this forum recently on whether two people can comfortably share a double bed. It almost seems like a sacred or somehow politically correct thing for some people. So I won't venture there, except to say if you have a husband on the large side, then it seems to me that after having experience on sleeping on both of these sizes, a double would be alot smaller than a queen (how safe is that for an answer?)

OK, sorry, I didn't quite get the question. Yes, if there are two beds in the room and they are both doubles, which apparently they are --
a double bed is 54 inches wide and 75 inches long. a queen bed is 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. a king bed is 78 inches wide and 80 inches long. a california king is another matter, which always confuses me. At least those are the "industry standards". Some actual mattresses may vary by an inch or so in any direction. |
