Question on NY resturants...

I will be staying in NYC next Thursday.

I am staying at the Courtyard Times Square on 114 W 39th

Can anyone suggest some good resturants for me? Im looking for something realitivly close, and under $40 a person. I usually lean towards Itallian or Oriental.

Any suggestions?

If you're staying near Times Square, consider Becco, which is about five blocks west (can't remember the address). It's Italian and seems to fit your requirements.

Becco is a good choice. It's actually 7 blocks north and two blocks west, about a half-mile walk, on West 46th Street, between 8th & 9th Avenues. Reservations are advised (212-397-7597).

The area along West 46th St. between 8th and 9th Avenues is called Restaurant Row. There are plenty of great places to choose from in that neighborhood.

Don't know how close is close enough, but to get away from the tourists you could try I Trulli on 27th street between Lex and Park. Italian with a great wine list, a little pricy but not too bad by NYC standards. Very well regarded.

Asia De Cuba is right around the corner from your hotel, great asian food and fun!

The Courtyard Times Square is located at 114 West 40th ( not 39th) I have stayed there quite a few times on business. The concierge desk is great at this hotel and they can direct you to good local restaurants. I love the Olive Tree Deli which is just around the corner on Broadway - a very short walk.

Along Restaurant Row, Hourglass Tavern, very inexpensive, kinda American/Italian/French. The menu is essentially just specials of the day so there's not a heck of a lot of choices but they have a variety of fish, pasta, red meat, poultry, veggie, etc. RUns $12-$17 pp for entree and salad. Quaint atmostphere, get a reservation as there aren't many tables.

Our personal favorite is the www.southsidecafe.com (252 West 47th Street)

Small intimate restaurant with lunch ($17)and dinner ($25) prix fixe meals.

Domenico's at 40th and Lex is very good and inexpensive by NY standards. A great steak and veal chop.

Livio, the Maitre 'd is a treat.

Asia De Cuba is at Madison Avenue & 37th- 4 long(avenue) blocks east of 114 W. 39th - hardly "around the corner". And not really in your price range.
Try Ollies for good dumplings and noodles (not great, but good -44th & 8th) Ida Mae - new wave southern(38th & Broadway) and 36 Bar and BBQ - terrific Korean beef BBQ - 36th & 5thAve.
