Question for Stu Dudley
 

Just found your suggestions for SF - YOU ARE GREAT! We're going to be there this weekend and will follow it to the letter.

Any other suggestions for a Sunday in the city? We are mid-forties, with a car and have with us 2-18 year olds who want to shop and see the sights.

Not Stu Dudley but wanted to let you know that there will be a huge pride parade along Market St. in downtown SF this Sunday and streets crossing Market will be extremely hard to navigate. So plan accordingly--to either avoid or to go.

hey - thanks for the heads up...looks like it might rain on OUR touring parade if there is a parade in town. Any other suggestions?

Lots of things to do away from Market Street--you can go Golden Gate Park, Crissy Field, take a ferry to Sausalito, ride bikes across the Bridge, go to Cinatown, North Beach. . .

Hi, believe Stu Dudley is in Europe for the summer. If you use the search engine here you will find tons of advice about SF. And since you have read Stu Dudley's post you should be able to take his recommendations and use them for your Sunday in SF. Welcome and have a fun trip!

Or, you could take the kids down to Market street to watch the parade.It's a huge event here in SF. A little of it can go a long way(IMO-but I'm in my 50's) and definitely walk or take public transportation to and from the area.

I agree with Pam SF. I'd consider it good fortune that your trip coincided with Pride Weekend. You can just see a bit of the parade if you wish, you need not stay for the whole thing. Personally, I used to just go to the start of the parade at the foot of Market Street because I loved watching the women's motorcycle cadre revving up to open the event. There might be a short ceremony at the start - in years past, it was to dedicate the parade to those who have died in the AIDS epidemic, and it always made me cry. The Gay Pride parade is a gas, it's very San Fran, the atmosphere is definitely welcoming and friendly - don't go out of your way to avoid it.
