Question for Chicago natives

I am a woman who will be traveling alone in Chicago. My destination is the United Center. I want to know: is this venue in a good or bad area of town? (So I may take the appropriate precautions). Thanks!<BR>

Pretty bad. There are housing projects very close. You really don't want to walk there from the loop.

A woman traveling alone in the vicinity of the United Center? I don't think so!

Wait a second - it is not so bad. I work at Rush Medical Center, very close to the United Center. It is by no means nice, but it is not as bad as it was just 5 years ago. Don't go overboard, but I'd take a cab to/from the venue just to be safe.

Though improving, the area around United Center is still a little rough, and you should take a cab or drive. Great parking and very well patrolled during events there, so you will be perfectly safe, but a little desolate to walk.
