Question about the San Diego Zoo...please
Hi,
On our trip to San Diego next month we are going to spend a day at the zoo....of course!! My question is this. Is the deluxe admission with the bus tour and sky arial tram worth the extra $10 over the regular admission price (we have to buy 4 tickets, so that's $40). We don't mind walking at all so that isn't a problem. I didn't know if we might learn anything interesting on the bus tour, and if the view from the sky tram was any good. Thanks for any help you might want to give. Leah

It depends on the group. If you can cover a lot of ground then I would save the money. I found the zoo to be very spread out and it took a long time to walk it. I don't think we saw everything. The bus was included in the admission if I remember correctly and did add to the experience. However, its been 6 years so another poster may have more recent memories.

Yuo get a gret deal of info on the bus tour and I think it is well worth the money. I have never done the tram but alot of folks do. If you are going to the Wild Animal Park (part of the Zoo also in North County) by all means take the tram ride there..it is fantastic and you see allthe animals in the wild.
Write me any more questions - I have lived here for 30 yrs.
Have fun!

Leah: If you've never been to the San Diego zoo before, then do take the bus ride. The driver/tour guide will give you all kinds of info that you wouldn't get just walking. You will want to walk as well, to see some things closer and for a longer time. I think the view from the Sky Ride is terrific. Expect a long line at the top going down. By the time you arrive at the top, your feet will be hot and tired!

Thank you for the responses. Sounds like we need to pay the extra to take the bus tour. We can hardly wait!!

Hi, its been a long time since I've been to San Diego and all the attractions, and now I am looking into planning a trip with my husband and three year old. Can anyone recommend a hotel that is close to the Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, etc., or are all the attractions so spread out throughout San Diego that you need a car to drive to them all?? Do any of the hotels provide transportation to the attractions? Thanks.

The attractions are very spread out. No one hotel is close to all. I don't know if any hotels offer shuttle service.

I highly recommend a stop to the Wild Animal park.. it's a chance to see the animals in huge open spaces, with various, geographically appropriate species co-habitating. But it is North of the city of San Diego.
