Question about seats at Al Hirschfeld on Broadway

Is there anything wrong with the first row in the left and right orchestra in the Al Hirschfeld theater?

HowardR Oct 9th, 2009 07:13 AM

Yes, it's the first row! And usually side seats in the first row should normally be avoided.
But, at the same time, however, at the same time I'll add that the show is Hair, so who knows how good or bad the seats may be!

Yes, that's a bit too close (and I'm speaking from experience). We usually don't take the side seats, or at least, we avoid the side seats of the first (or front) half of the orchestra.

Howard: naughty......

You can find seating charts for any theater online. http://www.broadwaybox.com/theaters/...eatre_nyc.aspx I love sitting close but wouldn't take first row side.

The front row of Hair is a blast! They've removed some seats so it's a bit away from the stage, and you're right near steps that are used a lot as the cast goes through the audience. There is a good chance that a cast member will do something like sit in your lap. If that's not your thing, I'd avoid it.

bethke14's comments are exactly why I wrote what I did!

We never sit in the first 8 or 10 rows - since you can be so close to the stage that you easily see only the part right in front of you - and not everything that's going on. that's even more true of seats on the side than those in the center - since you can miss a lot onthe o ther side of the stage.

Make sure you see the exhibit about Al Hirschfeld upstairs during intermission
