We will be in NO next week and would love breakfast at the Camelia Grill, an old favorite. Has it reopened yet and is it as great as always?

Also, could you recommend any current favorites for breakfast in or near the French Quarter? Appreciate your help.

Camelia Grill reopened a few weeks ago (according to a piece on one of our local TV stations in Houston). Haven't been there since so don't know if it's as great as always, but would think so. One of our favorite places for breakfast is Mother's on Poydras.

Camellia Grill is open. Go to www.chowhound.com and click on their New Orleans message board for all about NO. Mother's is the local's favorite for breakfast/lunch two blocks from Canal St.

Mother's Restaurant sits at 401 Poydras Street at the corner of Tchoupitoulas (Chop-a-TOO-lis) and is one of the most widely recognized landmarks in New Orleans' Central Business District (CBD). Within walking distance of the National D-Day Museum, the French Quarter, Superdome, Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, Harrah's Casino and the Aquarium of the Americas, it lies in the heart of the city's visitor destinations and is convenient to all of the major hotels.

Hours of operation are 6:30 am to 10 pm Monday through Saturday, and 7 am to 10 pm on Sundays. We have no dress code, so come as you are, but come early - we don't take reservations. Cash, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are all accepted.

I love Cafe S'bisa for Sunday brunch. If you ask for terrace seats, you can look down on decatur and people watch while eating (and drinking bottomless mimosas). Last I was in NO after Katrina, it was still closed. Not sure if it still is or not.
