Putting a good hotel in Rochester NY on the record

If they ever get a search engine that is reliable, I'd like to have inserted this kudo for a Marriott Courtyard near Rochester NY (in Penfield, but on a major highway with easy access to the rest of the city). It's very well appointed and kept, but with the friendliest most helpful staff I think I've ever encountered.

I was there for a funeral and the desk clerk volunteered to make copies of the obit for me (for free). The weather was Rochester's worst for several days (lake effect snow and bitter cold), but each morning the drive areas were clear and -- miraculous -- all guests' cars were brushed clean of snow!

Otherwise, rooms are all large, some suites, exercise room with (only) 3 machines, pool and hot tub. Breakfast buffet is a notch or two above mundane, nothing exciting but all good quality (eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, cereals, bagels, etc.) and quick service from the kitchen. I'll be staying there again, I'm sure.

As a Rochesterian I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay (well, sorry about the funeral). This really is a great city with very nice people. The weather has been so bad this winter - even we can't stop complaining about it! It's been unrelenting!

So good to hear a positive thing on this board (was afraid this was a shill post, but obviously not). Cleaning the cars was certainly "above and beyond." Not that I'm in a big hurry to go to Rochester in January, but . . .

Finally something nice about Rochester. Thank-you, PCM. Rochester always gets a bad rap.

Is this hotel in Penfield or Pittsford? I stayed at a terrific place in Pittsford last year which I think was a Marriott as well, but was formerly some other hotel with an individual name. It was just super. Suburban Rochester seems to be full of surprizes.

Ann, you give me a chance to say another positive thing about the Marriott group, at least in Roch.

This was the Courtyard in Penfield, but I had originally called the Renaissance in Pittsford (where the funeral was) asking for a lower rate for a large family booking (8 rms). When the people at the Renaissance heard we still couldn't afford their best price, they directed me to the Courtyard, cheerfully.
