Out of all those hotels, the Commodore would be your best bet. It is right downtown in the heart of all the action. The Islander Inn would be my second choice. They have a great pool area with swim up bar. If you have any additional questions feel free to ask as I am a summer resident.

steelers-If you have the date nailed down for your bachelor party, I would go ahead and make reservations as soon as possible as things get filled up quick in the summer.

Thanks to both of you for your quick responses.

Someone else also suggested the Commodore (1st) and the Islander (2nd).

We have a date (July 23 - 25) already picked, but I think it falls the weekend of Christmas in July. Is this a good weekend to come to PIB?

Since there are 10 of us, do you think it might be better to rent a house for the weekend?

I have never been to the Island and don't know too much about it other than what I have read on the internet.

Thanks again.

You may have a problem renting a house with 10 guys in tow or will be charged a hefty deposit in case of damages. Try D&D rentals atputinbay.com. Christmas in July is a HUGE weekend. One of the busiest. If you find a place now better make your reservation. You guys will have a blast at PIB.

Here is the website for accomodations: http://www.put-in-bay.com/accomod.htm

hey Buckeyemom, how about Ed's Motel and his bar and grill.?..know the Steel City Parrotheads go there for their shindigs..since you summer there maybe your know of it..

buckeyemom Jan 2nd, 2004 01:28 PM

Mr. Ed's Motel on PIB is the Commodore and his bar is right in front. He has a new motel in Port Clinton west of the drawbridge and the Jet Express.

Since I am a Brown's fan from way back, you wouldn't catch me in a bar full of steeler fans. b(

Looks like neither of us will be watching our football teams in the playoffs this year.

Anyhow, the Commodore is booked for the weekend that we want. The guy said the whole summer is pretty much booked. I called the Islander and they do have rooms available. How far is this place from the bars? Can you walk or must you take a cab? The Islander looks like a nicer place just from the photos???

buckeyemom Jan 6th, 2004 09:56 AM

Yea, both teams stink. At least OSU won their bowl game. Back to PIB, the Islander is within walking distance, right behind the Commodore. They have a great pool/bar area that is hopping during the day. I would go ahead and book them now. Christmas in July is one of their biggest weekends, you are in luck if the Islander has rooms...

First, I must apologize for all the questions. Looks like our group is growing. I have 10 definates and possibly another 10 guys that may want to go so I have yet to book a room since I don't have a total head count. I think we have decided to move our trip back 1 week. Instead of going for the Chistmas in July weekend, we are now looking at the following weekend - July 30th. I am wondering if this is going to be a "Quiet" or "Dead" weekend since it falls right after the biggest weekend on the island??? We just want to have a good, fun weekend without there being masses of people.

buckeyemom Jan 8th, 2004 10:39 AM

No problem with all the questions. I am glad I can help. The weekend after Christmas is July is the start of the ILYA regatta. It's busy also, although I don't think as busy as Christmas in July. Typically, July and August and Labor Day weekend and New Year's weekend (third weekend of September) are busy. May (except Memorial Day) and June are slower. IF you find something the weekend of the regatta--BOOK IT NOW!

BTW-With a group that large I would definitely check into renting a condo/house or something. Go to the website I gave you and check out accomodations. Trust me, there will be plenty of excitement going on.

PS>You owe me a cocktail for all the help. ;-)

steelers Jan 12th, 2004 10:55 AM

We're booked!!! Ended up getting rooms at the Commodore for the weekend of July 30th. I also rented an 8 person house from the guy that owns the Commodore. Can't wait til July. Atleast now we have something to look forward to. Thanks again for all your help.

I'll gladly buy you that cocktail!!!

buckeyemom Jan 12th, 2004 11:49 AM

I'm glad you guys found something, the Commodore is pretty accomodating and in a great location. I would leave your car parked and either walk or use a taxi, you can get anywhere on the Island for $3.00. You will also need to show the Miller Ferry proof of accomodations if you are planning on taking your car over. (you can probably just tell them to call the Commodore) I hang out in Tippers next to the Beer Barrel so we may catch you there..

The best website for lodging information is the http://www.putinbay.com website. The Edgewater has suites and rooms and is located right on the main street. There is also a new resort called the Put-in-Bay Resort that has a swim up bar and grill and also has suites and rooms.

Just be careful if you drink, some hotels like Islander Inn will kick you out if they catch you with beer in your room. Always ask to make sure.
