Gee Scarlett from your descriptions of Pup, I thought he was one of those foo foo little yapper dogs. I had no idea the Pupster was a "real" dog. Our house got hit by lightening once and we had extensive smoke damage and some fire damage. We had to move out while the restoration crew came in. We ended up in a Holiday Inn. It was hilarious seeing the looks I got as I was getting on the elevator with my yellow lab.

Hi buckeye mom! Yes, Pup is a Foo foo chocolate brown standard macho Poodle although he would be shocked to find out that he is not a bichon!
It is good to know that with a cell phone and a guide, we will be able to have more of a choice than I originally thought. I had better make his appt for his haircut right before we leave so he will be at his most Foofoo looking :) |
We had a Bassett Hound w/ no legs so when we traveled I had to stop and take her out for a drag.
She had no nose. How'd she smell? Terrible. Sorry. It's coming up on the 7th anniv were we had to put her down and we really start missing the big howling mutt. Since we travel too much now, we feel it's too soon and unfair to the pet to get another howler and then leave her home alone or with a pet sitter or relative. When I've been a good boy, Mrs Kal will take me for a ride down I-5 past Harris Ranch and roll down the window so I can hang out and get a good whiff. She likes it when my tail is wagging and I have a cold nose. |
Oh Kal ((L))

My dog, Jasper, has taken me every fall from Michigan to the southwest and I have never been a problem.
This is how we do it. We plan our route on Expedia.com. This gives us mileage and travel times so we can decide where to stop for the night. Then we call up petswelcome.com on the web. We make reservations before the trip by phone at motels who do not charge pet fees or pet deposits. When we stop for gas/food, Mr. J. gets his break, including a good drink. I have a very long plastic lead so he can really roam. Dinner and breakfast at the motel. I find him a wonderful traveling companion - he and I like the same NPR radio stations. I'm so glad he lets me come with him. When we're on the road, life is good. |
Awww Seniormsuedu, you and Jasper are a couple that Pup and the Yankee and I hope to meet on our travels!
Thank you for the web address and tips! Pup usually listens to Classical music but lately I have noticed his tapping his paw to the CD-Buena Vista Social Club ((&)) |

Scarlett--
We always stay at La Quinta -right off the interstate ( I 95 S) at Savannah- they accept pets, include a continental bkfst and you CAN take in a larger dog-( just bring dog directly into room)- You actually don't have to tell them you have a pet-- They are VERY pet friendly..A lady even brought a tiny pup into the lobby one morning.. Also AAA has a specific BOOK that you can buy and keep in your car that lists hotels that accept pets.. Charlotte is too far out of the way if heading towards Miami...( however, if you do go thru Charlotte, there is a SHERATON near the airport that DOES allow dogs-)... |
Scarlett....are you moving to Florida?
