Punxsutawney Feb 2nd

My daughters birthday is on groundhogs day. I was thinking about bringing her for the celebration. What is a good hotel to stay at near the celebrations. What is the closest airport? Thank you.

My son's birthday is Feb 2; maybe we can met you there! :-) Joking, but not about his birthday. My daughter's birthday is Jan 20th and every 4 years the president throws a grand party for her.

As someone who also has a birthday on February 2nd, (and so did my grandmother) I'm wondering if this is something your daughter's expressed an interest in? Has she seen the wonderful movie Groundhog Day and still wants to go?

Sorry, but as a kid I was relieved to have my birthday be treated separately from that particular celebration.

I actually traveled to Punxstuawaney for Groundhog's Day, believe it or not, when I was at student at Dartmouth. We all jumped into my friend Amy's car and headed for Pennsylvania.

It was a HORRID experience.

We all stayed in some Holiday Inn or other chain hotel nearby, getting up at 4 AM to get to the "hollow."

There are so many college kids who sleep in the field where Phil appears-thousands. (Pitt, Penn State, Lockhaven U, etc.) The "job johnnies" are all overflowing so that I almost threw up when I went to the toilet. GROSS.

All the restaurants are so PACKED that you have to wait an hour for a table.

It was not a fun experience.

Did have fun at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburg, however. We went there after seeing Phil.
