Punta Gorda

I am planning a few weeks in FL next Jan/Feb with my wife (to escape from the English winter). We just like to swim a little and stroll around shops and waterfront - not looking for party time (gonna be 60 in a couple of days)

I found a little place in Punta Gorda that looks nice (fisherman's village) - does anyone have any comments on place/area?

I know that this is a very belated response.....Fisherman's Village in my mind is okay. Lots of touristy shops and some dining with water views. The water views make it nice.

I will recommend a fairly new dining establishment that my sister and I had lunch at yesterday. River City Grill. It is on Marion in Punta Gorda. I telphoned one of my friends who is a reporter for a paper in Charlotte County and asked her if there was anyplace new to take my sister to. I live about one hour north of PG. It was a great lunch and a lovely setting. I've also heard great things about Waves of Grain. Have fun warming up in Southwest FL.
