Punta Cana vs Atlantis in Bahamas
 

Can anyone tell me their personal experience in Punta Cana especially if you have stayed at the Riu palace or the Melia Caribe Tropical. I would love some feedback if someone stayed there and also stayed at the Atlantis in the Bahamas. We are trying to decide which would be better. We have two kids ages 13 and 17 and want them to be occupied. Anyone??

Is money or remedial service any concern at all? You will need a lot of money and get remedial service at Atlantis.I did not stay at any property you listed while in Punta Cana.But our service in Punta Cana was truly wonderful.Most hotels in Punta Cana are all inclusive so we didnt have to worry about that.At Atlantis, I felt "overwhelmed" just too much.While in PC I was relaxed and able to have a great time.Hope this helps.

Could you tell me what property you stayed at in Punta Cana? We are used to more luxury accomodations and were told that these were in that category.

I stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace and at the Paradisus Punta Cana.I'm not a luxury traveller but I felt both, in fact all of the hotels in PC were first rate, all relatively new.While I think Atlantis is overall a luxury property, there are parts of it where the buildings date back to the early 80's and I thought it showed.My overall impression of Atlantis is an overdeveloped, expensive, and under productive hotel.Other people swear by it.I just refuse to fuel rude and pretentious service.But thats just me.
