huh. welp. that's mighty misleading and unfortunate... many thanks to google for that, heh. That was most of the reason I booked it, is because of the pictured lightrail stations so close. Ah well. As long as we'll be able to take the monorail to the end of the light rail line, that should be alright, right? Or take the bus, assuming the bus stations near our hotel actually exist too :P

Actually, to be fair to google, what they tell is that the closest Light rail station is Downtown Pacific Place, which is basically Westlake center: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=W...a=ltm&t=m&z=15.
You take the light rail from the airport, then get on the Monorail, not the other way around. You could also catch a taxi, it shouldn't be too expensive for 1 mile ride. |
OK, mystery solved. I think Google is talking about SLUT (south lake union trolley). You can take the SLUT from Westlake to Westlake & Mercer. It was bugging me to figure out why they had the icon there.

haha I was just talking about taking the monorail to the end of the light rail to get downtown every day :) For a moment I thought you meant the monorail only goes from the light rail to the seattle center and not back, which would be silly. Good to know I have multiple options though. Thank you for finding more info about that as I don't think I would have found that on my own. I laugh every time I read the name!

The Westlake and Mercer station is for the Lake Union streetcar. The streetcar, the light rail, and the monorail all use Westlake Center as their respective terminals, but they're not the same system, and their terminals are a short walk from one another.
The University Inn has a shuttle that will take you downtown. Whether they'd bring you back from Bumbershoot to the hotel if it's late is a question I'd ask them. http://www.universityinnseattle.com/...le-service.htm |
Honestly it would probably be easier to get out to the U-district, even though the distance is further. Than trying to use Light Rail + monorail or Seattle Streetcar (aka South Lake Union Trolly) to get to Seattle Center area.
OR if you'd picked the Moore Hotel only 1 block away from Westlake Center where the Light Rail terminates. |
