Provincetown, MA
(Now that I know where Provincetown is...)
I realize this isn't a gay & lesbian site, but I wondered if anyone knows anything about the Single Women's Weekend in Provincetown in May (not to be confused with Women's Week in October). Is this a big deal weekend, or is it just a few B&Bs that have gotten together and named a weekend? Any info would be appreciated. Not much on the web, esp. the "official" site... |
Perhaps try Flyertalk.com if you don't get much information from this thread. There is a GLBT section under Special Interest Travel on Flyertalk.com.

Lonely Planet, Thorn Tree, also has a gay & lesbian branch.

It seems to be more than just a few B+B's naming a weekend. There's various scheduled activities as well as many more rowdy young women in town that weekend. Womens' week on the other hand, seems to attract a more diverse group of women and does seem to have more activities.
I'm told that a few of the hotels etc. will be charging an additional security fee for the singles weekend. because of damage. Check out the archives of the Banner newspaper. |
And they said women weren't fit for combat....
|
I googled. The women's innkeepers have hosted Women's Week for 22 years. They are starting the Single Women' spring event for the first time next year. There's been a single men's week, so I guess they are just increasing options.

Moot now. Got laid off today. No traveling in the budget for me now...
And my 2006 Year of Craplola continues. |
Sigh. That's "crapola"... usually use curse words, so I guess I'm out of practice spelling expletive substitutes.
|
brandie, I am so sorry.
Are you on the Atlanta based email list that often posts job openings? Are you going to the big do tonight? Email me if you want info on either of the above. |
I am not, but I guess it can't hurt...
... and I am not... too many people for me. Besides, the Thrashers are on TV tonight. :) |
So sorry to hear about your lay-off, brandie...however, I also want to say that I find your posts, and the attitudes in them to be a breath of fresh air!! :)
|
Perhaps you'll have a job by next spring and things will look better for you.
I've noticed during the last couple years since Ptown has featured Women's single week that the prices seem to stay down for food and lodging. Perhaps this is because this event has mostly attracted youngish women. Shortly after this event, the prices on everything do shoot up. Never say never! Good luck! |
I'm a day late and a dollor short...but my husband & I were on the Cape last year the big L Ladies weekend is over Memorial Day Weekend. We were unaware of the festivities for that weekend, but being a "straight couple" really didn't seem to bother anyone else there, tho I must say we were seriously in the minority! P'town is eclectic and nuturing to all types of people. While I was slightly discouraged by what a huge "party weekend" it was, I was equally impressed by the mix of gay-straight-singles-couples-families-young-old-human-dog. Talk about a melting pot!!
Hopefully you'll have a chance to visit sometime. The rest of the Cap also offers a variety of unique experiences. If you can go, try to get to one of the beaches with the tital flats. You can walk out on the ocen floor for miles...it was sureal. |
brandie, hope the New Year started out well for you. Email me if you see this.
