Provincetown in March

I have a weekend in Providence in March, is it ok to drive to Provincetown ? I was told almost everything is closed at this time of the year. Any suggestions for things to do in 2 days. Hope the weather will not be too cold.

I love Provincetown.

There should be some things to do. Nice time of year to visit the offseason flavour. If Chesters is open....oh what a meal! Have fun exploring! Chatham is fine but lke's comment is disturbing to say the least

I have been to P-Town many times in March... even dead of winter. Yes, some places will be closed. Quite a few will be open and they will be gearing up for the season, though. You will find nice shops and places to eat without any trouble. I don't know if you need two full days, though. With so many great towns on the Cape you may want to do one day in P-Town and visit another spot the next day. Keep in mind your ride from Providence will be 3 hours at least... likely a little more if you are not used to the ride. Some of my favorite spots are George's Pizza and The Portuguese Bakery for food and Marine Specialties for neat, odd trinkets. Visiting P-Town off season avoids the crowds and can be very enjoyable... for all the places that are closed, you have that much more of a chance to enjoy the real community.

Don't let the inappropriate comments keep you away. It is a great town and you will enjoy it as long as you are open and accepting of other people. You do notice the gay community, you also see some drags shows and such during the summer, but you also see the hard working fishing community and those with open minds who just love a great town on cape cod.

P-Town is great, but there won't be too much going on anywhere on the Cape at that time...that might be what you're looking for, but if not...try Newport, RI

It's a lot closer to Providence and more things will be up and running that time of year. Newport has more "year round" things to do than the Cape...unless you're looking for the quiet isolation of the Cape that time of year...(which is nice sometimes....)

It will most likely be cold and windy that time of year on the Cape....especially P'Town.

well said shandy, very well said

Forgot to add, if your weekend is March 17th....Newport will be a ZOO...the annual St. Patricks Day Parade/Drunk Fest is that Saturday.

If that's not your scene, you would defintely want to wait until Sunday to visit Newport.

I love it, but it's not for everyone.
