Providence to Prudential Center

Plan on going to a Red Sox game in Sept.(Monday night). Leaving Providence around 1/2 pm. What would be the best route to get to the Prudential Center. Thanks!

Amtrak or Commuter Rail to South Station.

Sorry, meant to say Back Bay station, which is just a couple of blocks from the Pru.

If you need to get back to Providence after game, make sure trains still run that late.

Good point, gail; the last train *towards* Providence leaves at midnight, but goes only as far as Attleboro; the last train to Prov leaves at 8:15, so that's not helpful!

Well, technically, there's an AMTRAK at 9:50pm. But that's probably still too early for a night game.

If one leaves Providence at 1 or 2pm, traffic isn't bad going into Boston. Just take the most direct route - I-95 to I-93.

You could park at the Riverside "T" station and take the 'D" line into either Fenway or Kenmore square stations. That way you don't need to plan on Commuter rail schedules.

But will there be open parking available at Riverside mid-afternoon on a work day?

gail Aug 7th, 2005 04:09 PM

Don't know specifically about Riverside, but commuter lots north of Boston, although full by 7:30 AM or so have spaces that open up after noon. Not sure if Riverside fills again on Red Sox home days, since it would be a logical parking lot for outlying Fenway parking.

I think gail is right on about parking opening up at Riverside in the mid-afternoons but probably not so much on game days. The hotel right next to the Riverside station always has big signs out that say "No game day parking" which leads me to believe that Riverside *does* fill up--I just don't know how early.....
Parking at the Pru may very well be his/her best strategy.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like we will drive in and park at the Prudential Center.

Go to the Red Sox website. They list nearby parking lots, several which are closer than the Pru.

I was at the game last night and found on-street parking right in Kenmore Sq. What luck. Saved $30.
