Providence RI Renaissance Hotel?

Have just reserved a room at the new Renaissance in Providence to see WaterFire. Will we be close enough to walk to the river? Is it possible to walk to Federal Hill? Any recommendations for good Italian food, or any specific restaurants of any kind? My first trip to Providence so any advice most welcome. Thanks!

That's the new hotel across from the Capitol building. Yes, just walk down the hill past the Providence Place Mall and you're at the river.

Federal Hill is across a freeway from downtown. You may want to take the trolley over there.

I really appreciate the info - I didn't even know there was a trolley. Thanks much.

hi!
when are you going to RI?
Also, what is your price range for an Italian Dinner? Federal Hill is the place to go for Italian, but some of the restaurants can be a bit pricey.

You might want to check the waterfire calendar to make sure you are coming for a weekend when there is a waterfire.

yes, we'll be there September 1st, and I checked the calendar first. As for price range, part of why we're coming is to enjoy a great Italian meal, so don't mind it being pricey if it's good. Any suggestions?
