The hotels in downtown Providence are near enough to the highway. The Courtyard Marriott is a decent hotel, with good prices, and located right next to key sites downtown. For good food, go to Federal Hill, which has mostly Italian food and Mediterranean.

There is no Chatham, RI. Chatham, Massachusetts on Cape Cod is not anywhere near Providence, RI in any sense of comparison.
If you meant to say that you wanted suggestions for hotels and dining in Providence RI on your way to Chatham Mass then I'm sure some local RI people can give you suggestions.

Yeah, you are confusef for sure. there is Providence , RI -Chatham is in Mass, on the Cape... were you thinking of Provinctown, Mass? Even that is quite a ways from Chatham,I believe. As the other folks said, downtown Providence RI has the Marriot, Holiday Inn and Westin,.. probably kind of high . but RI is so compact that you could stay in the outlying areas, Warwick, Cranston, at a cheaper place and be downtown to check out the scene in 10 minutes. Defintily go to Federal Hill for din din- lots of choices and nice atmosphere.

The Holiday Inn, Westin, Biltmore and Marriott Courtyard are all within walking distance of each other and a lot of great restaurants. Even the Holiday Inn is expensive. You would save a lot of money if you stayed in Warwick. The Westin has heavenly bed and has a skywalk connected to the downtown mall. My sister hated the beds at the Marriott after staying at the Westin. If you want eclectic cuisine, try Cafe Nuvo (next to the canal, within walking distance but you can't see it because of the trees). There was a family restaurant on the same block at the mall, Jimmy's American Grille I think, that has great food at more reasonable prices. Do a search here on Providence for restaurant recommendations.
