Pros/Cons of these Seattle Hotels
My fiance and I will be staying in Seattle for part of our honeymoon. What is your opinion of these hotels?
~Inn at the Market ~Sorrento ~Hotel Andra ~Edgewater ~Hotel Vintage Park Or, is there somewhere else you'd recommend? |
Of the ones you mention, I've stayed at Inn at the Market and the Andra. I guess I'd still prefer Inn at the Market just for the views and location, if it weren't so darned expensive. We loved Andra -- the rooms are spacious and really nice, the staff is exceptional, and we love the location with tons of good restaurants nearby and seemingly convenient to everything.
The other one I might mention is Inn at Harbor Steps. We spent one night there and really liked it (although we liked the room at Andra a little better). If you appreciate a full and very good complimentary breakfast buffet and afternoon wine and snacks (I'm talking exceptional snacks here) then the Inn at Harbor Steps might really fit the bill. Again, though, don't expect the wonderful views you get at Inn at the Market (if you book right). |
Thanks! What type of room would you book at Inn at the Market. I saw an advertisement on Orbitz for 155.00. Is that good? I'll check out the Inn at the Harbor Steps.

Inn at the Market wins for location and yes that sounds like a good price.
Sorrento wins IMO for classiest most romantic hotel, but a bit out of the way if you want to walk to downtown activities. But taxis would be cheap enough to get around. Edgewater I don't like as it's a newer hotel kind of inconvenient down on the waterfront and not to my mind romantic. Hotel Andra is OK but I'm not sure I'd find it "honeymoon worthy". Don't know Vintage Park. In summary, :-) the Sorrento would be my pick for a honeymoon. Congratulations BTW!! |
That rate for the Inn at the Market is probably for a "city view" room (i.e, the side of the hotel facing 1st Ave). If so, then I would probably make another choice. But if it's on the waterview side, then that's a really good rate!
If a good room at the IATM ends up being out of your price range, you might look into the Lux Suites at the Andra...I think they are pretty romantic but it really depends on your preferences in decor (it's more modern and spare, which I like, but not everyone has the same preferences). The Sorrento is lovely, but it might not be in your price range, and it's quite a walk from downtown (although they do have complimentary towncar service). I would go for one of those 3 over the Edgewater or the Vintage. |
Good tip on suites at Hotel Andra. You sure can't beat the location for being near some great restaurants (Lola, Dahlia Lounge, Assagios, etc.).

Thanks everybody for the suggestions. I'm new to this website and I'm already addicted! :) Does Hotel Andra have a good view? The 155.00 was for a city view at Inn at the Market unfortunately. My friend suggested Watertown hotel. Anyone heard of it?
|
There are no real "views" from the Andra. You just look out to a street.
And I wouldn't think the city view at Inn at the Market would be much of anything. It's not a very high hotel. Only the handful of rooms facing OVER the market to the water are great for views, and yes, they cost a LOT more. The Watertown Hotel is at the University and is THREE MILES from downtown. I can't imagine why anyone would suggest you stay there for what you're talking about. |
Thanks Patrick. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. That hotel does have a shuttle, but I'd like something closer to Pike Market since we are there such a short time. Thanks for the info on Inn at the Market and Andra.

How are the rooms at Inn at the Market?
|
The "city" view rooms at the Inn at the Market don't offer a sweeping view of the city, as Patrick surmised-they overlook the street, or that quaint little alley the name of which escapes me. They also have, I think, market view rooms, which overlook the Pike Market-- a fun view. And the water view rooms are really nice--spacious, great windows, clean, marble bathroom, comfy swedish foam bed. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.
|
The waterview rooms sound great if I can find any sort of deal. Is Pike's Market within walking distance of Sorrento?
|
Have you tried calling the Inn at the Market directly? If you can find a charming way to say "I'm doing a honeymoon on a budget, and I'd really love to stay at your hotel" maybe they'll help you out with that water view room... good luck!
|
:) Good idea. I just emailed them actually and asked about honeymoon upgrades. I know some hotels do that. I've heard some "waterviews" there are not good views. Is there a certain side of the hotel that makes a difference?
Tell me more about Inn at Harbor Steps...pros/cons? |
The Inn at Harbor Steps is in the lower two floors of a high rise apartment building. The rooms are nice, but there are no views except out to a landscaped "garden" at the same level. The best feature is the afternoon "tea" with wine and nice snacks and the very nice breakfast with really good fresh homebaked goodies. But honestly, I think both the Andra and Inn at the Market are better honeymoon choices.
