Where is a good place to propose in Philadelphia?

try the Fountain restaurant at the Four Seasons hotel. get a room too for the perfect evening. <BR>how about Le Bec Fin? <BR> <BR>Of course both of these restaurants are unbelievably expensive, but she's worth it, right?

I don't know. The restaurant is so "been there, done that". Why not go romantic and do it at the incredibly wonderful Philadelphia Zoo. At least it is original, and fun.

There is nothing romantic about the Philadelphia zoo. If you want to do it <BR>in a trendy place, go to Pod restaurant in the University City. It is a new <BR>Japanese restaurant that has a very <BR>futuristic decor.

Traveler, <BR> <BR>What month will you propose? There are so many lovely sites in/around Phila. area, i.e., The Art Museum, Longwood Gardens, etc. Ellen's suggestion is wonderful, too. Keep us posted!

Pod, like many new philly restaurants, has excellent food as well as atmosphere, but I wouldn't use the adjective 'romantic' to describe it. Four Seasons and Le Bec may be old-school, but they are the best for a reason, and traditional romantics should play a part in an engagement (IMHO). <BR>The zoo comment had to be a joke. It's kind of run down and doesn't smell so good. "My darling I love you as much as those two monkeys going at it over there, will you marry me?" <BR>Response - "Ummm, are you kidding?"

I agree with Mark. And if you think that LeBec Fin is too expensive for you, <BR>then you can just sit at the bar in the <BR>basement of LeBec Fin and have a few drinks or order some appetizers.

Thanks for all the great ideas so far. We'll be there in mid-March so I'm sure it'll still be pretty cold. Proposing in a rest. seems so unimaginative to me. I'd like to find a place that's a little more memorable. A spot in the city w/ a great view or somewhere that has some other significance.

I don't know Philadelphia much at all, but I was there recently and my friend took me to a park called Belmont Plateau (I think that's right) and there was a view of the city from there. I don't know how that rates compared to the other suggestions, but just an idea...

Personally, I would take a helicopter ride over the city--propose to her near the statue of William Penn--a great site, especially from the air. Yes, it might be a little expensive but I think it's alot more exciting than sitting in some restaurant--more memorable.

Personally I love the view from the top of the Art Museum steps. But I think in March it may be rather cold. Unfortunately, I think outdoor Philly is at it's best in the Spring when everything is blooming. Good Luck!

If it only has to be NEAR Philadelphia, then Longwood Gardens would be perfect. Even in mid-winter the indoor conservatories are lovely and romantic. <BR> <BR>If the weather is acceptable, the steps of the Art Museum would be good. Try not to think of Rocky Balboa running up the steps; just look at the lovely view towards City Hall.

Rittenhouse Square is another lovely place to propose. A respite from city life, right in the middle of downtown.

Philthy is the worst city in the US. You should propose to go somewhere else. What a pit.

I second one of the conservatories ta Longwood Gardens. While you're at it you can also take in Winterthur.

I've been a resident of Center City Phila for seven years -- you have to propose under the LOVE statue in Love Park, which is at 15th and the Ben Franklin Parkway and catty-corner to City Hall. Beautiful long-shot view of the Art Museum.

We live in Philly and my husband proposed to me at the Four Seasons. We had dinner first and the surprise was that he got a room for us for the night. When we got to the room there was champagne, roses and chocolate covered strawberries... he proposed there and it was the most romantic night of my life. How can one beat the Four Seasons???!
