Proposing in Ontario California
I am visiting my long time girlfriend's hometown of Ontario for the first time and I was wanting to propose to her while I was there. Since I am not familiar with the area, I was hoping someone could give me some good advice as to where a romantic spot in the area could be found.<BR>I am willing to drive within 30 mins of the city, but I cannot go out as far as LA or the coast. Ah, I am so nervous about this and I just want to pick an appropriate place.

Paul, look into Duane's Mission Inn in Riverside...it has 2 very nice restaurants and the surroundings are also very nice...there's also a place named The Magic Lamp Inn in Ontario that used to serve excellent food.
|
Drive straight up Euclid towards the mountains. There are lots of scenic spots along the road. You can drive up close to 8000 feet in less than half an hour.
|
Hmm, sounds pretty good.<BR>I am thinking I will take her out to a romantic dinner, then go out walking somewhere and propose there.<BR>Will check out Euclid then, I want to have a good spot before I leave because I won't have indepedent trasportation once I am there to scout things out.

The Mission Inn is a great suggestion! The hotel is a beautiful historic site and the restaurant is one of the best in the area. The garden area around the pool is nice. But there's also a little chapel on the grounds that might also be a special place for a proposal. The hotel is a popular location for weddings, so I'm sure they'd be very helpful if you called ahead for their advice. http://www.missioninn.com/weddings.htm<BR><BR>For a nice restaurant in Ontario, I'd recommend Rosa's. It's a upscale Italian restaurant located on Vineyard Avenue near the convention center. Here's the website: http://www.rosasitalian.com/aboutrosa's.htm

I proposed to my wife at Mission Inn. Couldn't have been better. I booked us a room for the night (they often have specials for Sundays that include dinner and a room). The chapel idea is perfect - I wish I had thought of it. My wife loved the proposal so much, that we wound having our wedding there.

I ended up getting a reservation to the Mission Inn Restaurant for next week at 6:30. Sounds like the perfect place, I cannot wait till I go there.

Great idea! I was going to suggest the Ritz Carlton Huntington in Pasadena, but that's more of a drive. Also the Huntington Library in San Marino is a pretty place, but I'm sure you'll love the Mission Inn. Look into the history--it's a grand old place that not many folks know about. Congrats.

The Mission Inn is one of my favorite places in the Inland Empire - you made a perfect choice. Take a camera! I've always regreted that my husband and I don't have any photo memories of one of the most romantic evenings of my life.

Paul, I'm going to be down in that area in a few months and would love to see an update from you when you get home. I thought you got wonderful ideas on your other postings and would be delighted to hear how you enjoyed the area. Best of luck on the proposal!

I also got engaged and married at a young age. I'm now a divorced woman of 31. I'm so greatful for my 2 children. But our marriage didn't work out, since we were young and grew in different directions. We were madly in love, but that doesn't always pay the bills. It was also tough to be a young married couple, when all of your single friends are out partying and traveling around the world. <BR><BR>I wish you better luck. Hopefully you met at college and at least have a good education behind both of you. Please at least consider a long engagement.
