Proposing in Cleveland...

Does anyone have any suggestions for places to propose in Cleveland or the general area? Even say an hour drive away? Someplace quiet, gorgeous. It might have to be at night. Any ideas are great.

Maybe you could hire a boat and go out on Lake Erie or maybe a trip to Put-in-Bay island. I think it depends on your interests, if you want a quiet restaurant or something like that.

I guess an Indians game is out. Someplace gorgeous?? In Cleveland?? Does that exist?? Ok enough with the stupid jokes. Hmm, Chagrin Falls?? The Beach?? A Park?

There is a resort in Huron called Sawmill Creek. Here is the website. Maybe you could stay there and propose.

Good luck.

Congrats on your upcoming proposal! Here's one stop shopping..you might consider the newly opened (like just last week) Cleveland Botanic Garden, in the heart of University Circle, very near the Cleveland Museum of Art. View details at www.cbgarden.org. Also located here, on the Case Western Reserve Campus is the beautiful Glidden House B&B - details at www.gliddenhouse.com In fact, this web site has a link to the CBG, along with other attractions, restaurants, etc in the area. You're just a few minutes drive to Cleveland's Little Italy area, which has some fabulous restaurants. A few minutes drive also puts you in either downtown Cleveland or our warehouse district, again with wonderful places to eat - just depends on what your tastes are.

ENJOY Cleveland and good luck with your proposal !

Interesting question. Speaking of University Circle, I would choose someplace along Wade Lagoon adjacent to the Cleveland Museum of Art. The sufficient yet spare lighting, I think makes it romantic enough.

Other than that, I would use Cleveland's natural resources to make the most of it. The 9th St. plaza on the North Coast district downtown facing Lake Erie offers the great qualities of a waterfront -- and a gorgeous view of the downtown skyline. The Metroparks Zoo is another popular place to pop the question. And if you want a restaurant in the mix, one of the Flats restaurants -- Watermark or Pier W would be a good choice, with views of the river and nightlife.

Good luck, and tell us how it went!!

Piew W restaurant isn't in the Flats, but rather in Lakewood, just a few minutes drive from downtown. Has a teriffic view of Cleveland's skyline, not to mention fantastic food !

Oops! I may not have hit Pier W's location, but the effect is the same...it's still a great location for this special moment...
