Onsite Univerisal hotels with airport transportation

We are considering a trip to Universal this winter/spring. We want to avoid the headache of getting a car rental and was wondering if any of the onsite hotels have free airport transportation?

Also, any recommendations on what hotel works for a family of 4. Our kids are ages 13 and 10.

You didn't stay how how long you were staying at the hotel. My husband and I took 4 teenagers last Christmas and we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel. We traveled to hotel on a shuttle bus that you can grab from airport. It wasn't expensive. We are all still talking about the wonderful time we had. Best vacation for kids yet. When you stay at hotel you get "express line" so you never wait in line. We rode several rides over and over while we saw some of the same people waiting in line to ride it for the first time. You will love Universal. Great hotel.

Mears is the only option I know of. You can hop on at the airport or get a cab to Universal.

Just got back from Orlando and we used Happy Limo (which was a new black Cadillac sedan) and we were very pleased. There are many services like this just confirm cost, type of car since one company I called was actually the same price for a yellow cab that was not smoke free. It cost $59 and included the tip and tax. They also include a free 15 minute stop at a grocery store on the way to the hotel to get water, snacks etc..we faxed a small order in a head of time to the grocery store and it was ready when we got there. This cost the same as a Mears shuttle trip would have cost and got us there in a much quicker and comfortbale manner. The Mears Shuttle stops at many hotels and could take over an hour to reach you hotel. We saw the large group of people piling into the shuttle and I was relieved we had booked the car service.

None of the hotels provide transportaion from the airport. You have to arrange it on your own. Actually, the private car companies will probably cost less than Mears for four people. Check out www.mearstransportation.com and www.yourride.net for some prices. We love the Hard Rock Hotel, but I know people who have stayed at the Royal Pacific and love it also. All three on-site hotels are Loews Hotels and you can't go wrong. The Hard Rock is the most convenient to the parks--only about a five minute walk to Universal and maybe 15 minutes to Islands of Adventure. For LOADS of information go to www.disboards.com and scroll down the Universal Forums.

In June we went to DW and used Tiffany Town Car. The driver was on time to pick us up and take us back to the airport, he was very nice and answered any questtion we had, his name was Alex we told him we would request him the next time we come down because my kids would like to go to Universal try them www.tiffanytowncar.com. Previous we had used Mears, the bus makes alot of stops.
