So I really hit the internet this am for a better Seattle SUV price tahn 700. for 5 days
Fox (offsite) has the best price 320. and I found a 5% off coupon on retailme not....

Has anyone called a car rental co and asked them just to extend teh contract by 1 day at same day price rate?

ncounty Jun 14th, 2010 04:39 PM

I went to check out better bidding dot com. It wouldn't work for me; it said the administrator has decided to insert flood controls, try back in 20 mins. I tried back twice and it said the same thing.

1JAR that seems like a great price. I haven't tried that but it seems worth a try to call them. I know hotels will often extend your stay for the same price.

Hi Ncounty,
Txs for trying to help.

Here is what Alamo said when I asked if I could just extend the rental contract from 4 days to 5 days at teh same 55, per day rate for the SUV.

No, sorry Ma'am. Alamo considers a 5 day rental a "weekly" rental meaning, we charge a weekly rate for 5 days..that is why it is so expensive. Wow, I am renting 5 days and tehy charge me for 7 days.....I think this is a rip off.

Then Alamo said, the best thing to do is to keep the 4 day rental, bring the SUV back on 4th day and do a 1 day rental at whatever the 1 day rate is...guess it will be FOX and I learned to look for rental car coupons on retail me not...

that does sound like your most cost efficient option, 1jar. It just involves a bit of time and effort on your part on day 4. I'm one who tends to do that to save money.

if you could find an "extra day coupon" ( I think I have seen them) with some company it might work out more conveniently.

Are you registered at Betterbidding? If not, you should. The floor control should not appear so often if you are and disappears after a few seconds.

It would be a far more efficient endeavor if everyone here posted their results on BetterBidding, and or BiddingforTravel.

there's a new site i have just learned about from flyertalk, called
www.tripducky.com

which seems modeled on bft but seems to be more automated? i just peeked at the site today and as i look at it more maybe i'll get more info, but it seems helpful at first glance.

DebitNM Jun 15th, 2010 04:16 AM

I just looked at trip ducky. It doesn't look "automated" but rather it seems that the administrator went to betterbidding and bft and took recent wins and posted them on tripducky to "prime" the pump" that is why there are no posts or replies. It may turn out to be useful in future, but right now, meh.

[ I know that they copies reported wins because I recognize them from wins on the other boards for cities I have been watching]

Tripducky... interesting name. I'll check it out.

Tripducky is cute but I agree with DebitNM that the info is probably scraped off other sites (which probably violates copyright laws). The other Priceline helper site I'm a fan of is www.HotelDealsRevealed.com which actually does have UNIQUE content.
