Priceline - Ocala or Orlando on New Year's Eve?
We are driving to Bonita Beach from Pittsburgh with a stop-over in either Ocala or Orlando. We want to arrive in Bonita around noon/1:00, so we thought either of these would work.
While Ocala is a little cheaper, Orlando has many more hotels, so we thought we might be better off there. I'm in the process of bidding (no success yet). I guess my real question is -- would staying around Disney World be a real nightmare on New Year's Eve? We'd like a nice hotel, but we don't want hordes of people.... Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you. |
Orlando and hordes of people go hand-in-hand.
The good part is that some of the monir attractions could be as far as 15-20 miles from WDW. Just out of interest I went to the bestWestern web site and there are 23 in the Orlando area. Most appear to have vacancies and many are under $100 per night. Orlando and priceline could be an issue due to how spread out everything is. Unless you are staying on-site at Disney, the motels are not very expensive. |
Thank you for your reply and information, Myer. We ended up with the Sheraton in North Orlando (Maitland), so it should be OK, I think. The Sheraton gets very nice reviews, so we are pleased to have gotten it for $55.

I live about 2 miles or less from that Sheraton Maitland. It is right off the highway - Rt.#I-4 - so convenient for those traveling through for a quick stop. You may want to inquire if they are having a New Years Eve celebration and request a room as far away as possible.

Thanks for the heads-up, bnbtraveler!
