priceline for hotel room with two beds?
Is there a way to use priceline.com and receive a hotel room that is guaranteed to accomodate two adults/two children. I have used priceline before for two adults and have been very happy with the accomodations and price. However, I am not sure how to request a room with two beds. There doesn't seem to be a place to make such a request before you submit the bid. Anyone?

ISB: To answer your question directly, the asnwer is no. Priceline ONLY assures a bed that can accomadate 2 people, which means at minimum a 1 double bed.
HAving said that, depending on where you are looking for a room, would depend on whether a request for 2 beds would be met. If you research hotels that priceline users have gotten in a particul;ar city, using a online resourse such as www.biddingfortravel.com, you can see what hotels others have gotten through priceline, and whether requests for 2 beds were acommodated. It seems that in cities with many older hotels with small rooms, such NYC or San Fransisco, many hotels do not have alot of rooms with 2 beds, so those are the places where you might have problems. But in places like Orlando and LA, for example, that shouldn't be a problem. I assist my sister in getting hotel rooms using PL, and she has 2 kids. she ahs NEVER had any problems with the hotels she's gotten through PL about getting 2 beds, and this applies to basic motels like Baymont Inns to nicer places like Marriots, Hyatts, and Embassy Suites. |
If you make a bid on priceline and get it, I would then call the hotel directly (within a few days of getting your bid or a few days before you leave) and request 2 beds. I don't think you can actually request that through priceline, before you bid.
Last summer, I got a bid for a hotel in Memphis that was originally going to be for just my husband and me. We later ended up having our niece visit during that time period and had no problem getting 2 beds. We even waited until we checked in to ask for 2 beds and had no problem getting that. |
I agree with the other posters, we have never had any problem getting two double beds at least for our family of four.
But, I would be leary in NYC, we are going there this summer and used Priceline "Vacation" package which tells them exactly how many people to a room and then they only give you choices of hotels with enough beds for the number of people. But of course this includes airflight too and if you don't need that it won't work for you. |
4khansen,
I see you have gotten a priceline vacation package to NYC and am curious as to which hotel you got. My husband and I went to NYC in March, using a priceline vacation package, and stayed at the Radisson on 48th and Lexington. We had a great trip and absolutely loved NYC. Our hotel was in a great location but we weren't thrilled with the hotel itself. I'm just curious to know which hotel you picked and would to hear how things went once you return. Thanks! |
We have the Hilton Towers at Rockefeller.... so we hope things work out well there. I believe they have us in a two double bed room, I did request an upgrade for an extra $20 a night to the executive floor. We will see if that works!

lsb, there's no way to request a room with two beds. Others have had good suggestions. I have never had any problem getting a room with two beds when I wanted it - the big chain hotels usually have more rooms with two beds available than with one bed, or so I have been told. But there are a few exceptions. It will depend exactly where you are bidding.
For example, in New York City, Priceline uses a few hotels that have only one bed in a small room. If I were you, I would look at the specific city/zone(s) in question on BiddingForTravel.com, look at the hotel list for each zone, and see if those hotels tend to have rooms with two beds (call each hotel if you are not sure). In that case, it might be worth taking a chance. An hour or two after you get your Priceline reservation, call the hotel directly and get them to place "two beds" in your reservation - usually they will do so without a problem. That's what has always worked for me in the past. Andrew |
