Check biddingfortravel.com. There are posts with bidding requests and results. It can give you some idea on what and how to bid for the best deal.

Last December...I think it was the 15th a Saturday we got Loews for $65!
|
Thanks for all the help.I checked outwww biddingfortravel, gota quick education on hoe to bid on priceline.
We are booked at the Coronado Island Marriott for$88.00 thanks again
|
Congratulations! I'm still trying to get a 2.5 star hotel in Albany, NY for September for $65. rejected....again! I think you got a terrific deal at the Marriott on Coronado. I just can't understand...there's no comparison between Coronado and Albany! Congratulations, you'll love it!
|
Tom, you are bidding too soon, for your September stay. Priceline gets rooms that hotels think they might not otherwise rent at all. There might not be ANY 2.5-star hotel rooms available in Albany for your dates yet on Priceline, at any price. Book yourself a nice cancellable room now, then bid on Priceline about a month before your trip.

Tom she might be right.I booked this last night for this Sunday. Good luck
|
You're probably right! Thanks for heads up about bidding in July for a room in September...just my nature! Thanks, Tom

Not always true that you need to bid with Priceline close to date of travel - I got hotel in Baltimore Inner Harbor when in May for August trip. Reading biddingfortravel in past weeks, these hotels are now filled and people can't get reservations on Priceline or any other way.

I am sure hotels have all sorts of research and formulas that tell them how many rooms and when to release to Priceline - but sometimes it does not seem to make sense.

To original poster - if you want a hotel on Coronado, it would make sense to only enter Coronado.

The bidding went like this
Coronado..75..rejected added free rebid
LaJolla..82..rejected added free rebid
Mission Valley..88..accepcted

My girlfriend and myself booked the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina for $150 per night this August. Being from Philadelphia we are not too familiar with the rates in SD. She'd rather sleep in style than with a pocket full of money... unlike myself. Could anybody comment on whether we got robbed or are we in for a treat? Thanks

An okay property. There are many better at a better price.
