I'm wondering what kind of success anybody has had in obtaining three or four star accommodations in the Times Square area through Priceline.com. I have seen references on this site regarding a bulletin board showing Priceline.com success stories, but for some reason I haven't been able to access it. One particular concern is that I have a family of four and it seems that only rooms for 2 adults are guaranteed through Priceline.com. I'd hate to get stuck in NYC for 3 nights with 1 Double bed for 4 people. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

<BR>I was very pleased with the 4 star hotel in NYC I got for $111 a night including tax through priceline. <BR> <BR>But I think you're right about the room. They only offer a room for two but say you can contact the hotel for information about adding an additional person (in your case 2 extra persons). <BR> <BR>You might want to see what you could do bidding on two rooms. Or you might try quickbook.com. It's gotten good reviews on this forum. <BR> <BR>

I have not bid for hotel but airfare. I would email my concerns to Priceline they are the most customer friendly bid service I know online. They answered a question of mine. I needed to be insured that they were not using one airline in contract talks. They answered expedia would not.

It is true they will only guarantee 2 persons per room. Last summer, my family of four won a bid for the Wyndham Los angeles. I called the hotel and requested 2 double beds. Upon our early afternoon arrival, our room was not ready. they upgraded us to a one bedroom suite instead, with pullout couch. We loved it (privacy) and kids are comfortable wherever they sleep! I think it depends on when you arrive at the hotel. If you get there after, say 6 PM, your chances are reduced as the hotel has probably begun filling up. Worst case: you would then have to book a second room at "the going rate". I'd take the chance! Good Luck!

Keep in mind,,,that Priceline uses their own rating system for making a hotel 3 or 4 stars. <BR> <BR>They do not utilize an independent rating service like AAA or Mobil etc.

Try hotwire.com for your hotel room. I hear they are better to work with. Good luck.

I had checked the east, west, and south midtown areas and 4-star. <BR> <BR>Large room and bath by NYC standards plus small kitchen with refridgerator, microwave, conventional oven and burners, silver, china, etc. A great neighborhood - about 4 blocks from Grand Central. <BR> <BR>I had stayed at the Washington Square for $189 per night before and, though I loved the Wash. Abe: Excellant value, familar with the hotel and area (I believe it is on Park Avenue), hats off on a good deal. Quikbook is also an excellant site for hotel values.

Can't speak to the NY question, but I've used Priceline many times for hotels and air, with great success. <BR> <BR>Suggest you try that board again--it now has its own name: <BR>biddingfortravel.com. <BR> <BR>On that site, find the section with NY hotels, where folks have posted their successful NY bids. Be sure to read the FAQ's if you want to ask board participants for help, and just for general purposes, very educational stuff in there. There is also a hotel reviews area, which can be enlightening. <BR> <BR>biddingfortravel is a terrific board. I never bid priceline without reading everything on that site that is about my destination. <BR> <BR>Good luck. <BR>
