Thanks, NeoPatrick. I just looked at Dollar - they are not accepting that promo code, but guess what, even at full price, the total for the same duration, in-town pick-up (just a few blocks from the hotel) and SFO drop-off, comes out to $67! That's almost 1/2 of what Hertz is quoting me.
Well, I guess I'm not that partial to Hertz anymore... |
yk, I can't remember the last time I had any luck getting a good price from Hertz -- they always seem higher to me even with good codes. I've always suspected their big business comes from corporate accounts with private codes and discounts.
Lately Dollar has been all over the map with prices -- really low one time and really high the next. Can't figure them out. |
Sorry I tried to help you about Hotwire. No need to be snotty. Actually I always look there first for the "total". AND yes, I actually HAVE gotten a cheaper rate on Hotwire at least twice.

Snotty? What do you mean? I think it's great when others get a good rate and have no fears about needing to cancel or delayed flights and losing the entire payment, but I just have yet to find one there. Didn't mean the "are you kidding?" to be snotty -- sorry if you thought so -- just saying that I never have any luck there.
And as mentioned they don't do one way rentals which eliminates about half or more of all the rentals i do, and certainly this one. Now I suppose yk can call me snotty too, since I said I can't remember the last time I got a deal from Hertz. |
I thought I was the snotty one, saying that I'm partial to Hertz. ;)

NeoPatrick - thanks again for reminding us to check other companies and for discount codes. After I saw I could get the rental for $67 via Dollar, I looked up Budget, and with a discount code I found online, I can get it for even cheaper - just under $50! Now I can use the extra cash for a nice lunch at the Slanted Door...

I can't think of a better way to spend the savings!
