Priceline advice please
 

I was thinking about bidding on priceline for a room in nyc in late October-my question is this-what areas of Manhattan should I go for, how much is a reasonable bid for a **** hotel, and how risky is this that I will end up somewhere that I will not be happy with. I am very tempted to try this after all of the success stories I have heard from people. Has anyone had a negative experience using Priceline for rooms in nyc? I have found a $179 rate at the Park Central Hotel-Should I just go for this? Sorry, for all of the questions, just trying to make this trip great!

I'll chime in just to agree with Anthony. Go to the Web site he mentions. Read the Hotel FAQs for information on bidding strategies, and then look at the thread for New York/New Jersey hotels to see details on winning bids for New York. <BR> <BR>Good luck with your bidding!

I would suggest trying quickbooks.com...I saw learned of the site from this forum and used it on my recent trip to NYC. It was an amazing deal...Paramount Hotel, in midtown, for $180 and $150 per night. My travel agent could not get it for less than $250. You receive both a confirmation from quickbooks and from the hotel. Everything went very well; no surprises. <BR>

Ditto what Don & Anthony have said about the ezboard website. I too have saved lots of bucks using Priceline in conjunction with this website. Pay special attention to the advice regarding adding zones for rebidding, and you will be successful. <BR>Good Luck!

A word of warning...I was bidding on a priceline ticket. HNL to LAX (Honolulu to Los Angeles) at $475. I verified my offer on screen, but did not print it. <BR>I was elated to have it accepted until I saw it was for San diego (SAN) to LAX! Don't know how it happened, but all the help screens basically said tough luck- you bought a $147 route for $475 and youre stuck. It took me hours to find and call the priceline number. I got a ONE TME only cancellation..if I can get accepted on the HNL-LAX within 48 hours at $475 or more, I'm penalized $5.95. Otherwise its a $75 penalty, which looks like what I'll get. Print those iteneraries before you push Buy my tickets, so you can prove any errors!
