President Day Weekend in NYC

Wife and I are looking for a nice 3 night getaway in NYC (2/13-2/16) without the kids. Its our 1st trip to NYC together (I was there on business for one day earlier this year) Need suggestions on nice reasonable hotels in midtown and places to eat.

The two questions we NYers ask everyone:

what price range do you consider reasonable?

what type of food do you like?

I would say less than 200 per night and as far as food all is good except for maybe indian/curry stuff.

Remember that 2/14 is Valentine's Day and many hotels will be sold out. Keep that in mind when booking restaurants as well.

You better give us more info as to your food preferences--price range and type of food. "Except for maybe indian/curry stuff" really doesn't narrow the field very much and we could recommend hundreds (if not thousands) of places.
Further, you better make up your mind soon and make reservations soon for that weekend.

That weekend which also includes V Day may be hard to find something nice in midtown at your price. Have a look at availability on quikbook.com

For a weekend trip, I don't think it's necessary to stay in midtown. I think a more residential area would be better. Have a look at the Upper West side (hotels there include the Beacon, the Excelsior, the Lucerne, On the Avenue & the Millburn). Also check the Park South Hotel (parksouthhotel.com) which usually has weekend specials that include extras like dinner (the rest. in the hotel is supposed to be good), theater tickets etc. It's south of midtown but in an area loaded with good restaurants.

If you really want midtown, check the Gorham Hotel (it will probably be more thta weekend) or maybe consider bidding on Priceline? Check out biddingfortravel.com for info

Why not also look at Priceline???

I stayed at the Paramount on W45th, got 2 rooms for $117.00 each. When I arrived I asked if they had adjoining rooms, and for a $30 upgrade per room, got that each with a king-sized bed. The location was ideal for this Xmas visit trip... read my previous post about the hotel itself... we ate right there at an Italian restaurant, and next to the hotel is a bakery cafe and yet another a few steps down the way..... made it very convenient to get food out of the way to we could enjoy the city itself....

Thanks all for your posts. Turns out that weekend won't work as our babysitters, my in-laws, are in Daytona that weekend for the race. Guess it will have to be between March 29 thru the 4th.
