Presents from England
We're going to stay with some friends in the USA - is there anything that we can bring from London that would be a good present?
Karen: I can only tell you about things that I like to bring back to the US when I visit London.
( You will notice that chocolate is mentioned more than once! <grin>:

Bath goodies from Lush
Maynard's Wine Gums
Cadbury's Dairy Milk or Flake
Kit Kat bars ( taste different that US versions)
Chocolate wafers w/crystalized violets from Fortnum Mason
Scarves from Liberty
Neckties from the British Museum gift shop
Twinings Fruit Infusion Teas in various flavors ( I like the ones with mango the best)
Jo Malone colognes and lotions
These are all small items which pack easily .., and only the Jo Malone and Liberty items are a bit pricey.

If you're bringing small things, how about something from Harrods or sample jars of preserves (jams) and that clotted cream (?).

Or if it's a thank you gift how about Bristol blue stemware?
Teapots, china, or a bottle of Harrod's Champagne.
I'd like a few of the crown jewels, or maybe a Rolls Royce. Otherwise, teas and biscuits are always nice -- or if at the holidays bring me some of those fun crackers.
Here's another vote for Cadbury Daily Milk bars and products from Lush. While I'm not much of a coffee drinker, a friend of mine always requests that I bring back Harrod's coffee when I'm visiting London.
What gives, Helen, Margaret, Susan, Penny, etc. You've started at leat 6-7 threads all about coming to Miami from the UK. Why not ask all questions in one thread? And what's with the different names? And how about that obsession with tiny & tinyworld? Did you really think us dumb Americans wouldn't figure this out???
Lush all the way. I bring back loads every time I'm in London, and they always go over well as gifts. There are items you can get for men, too (shaving whatnot).
My sister always brings back tins of candies. When empty the tins become piggy banks. The tins are replicas for interesting things from London - like Big Ben with the children from Peter Pan flying by, or a double decker bus or a telephone booth. If you are visiting children these might be nice.
How about a package of that desert called "Spotted Dick"? I'm serious. I brought it back from a trip once and it got lots of laughs from my family.

McVities Hob Nobs (especially the ones covered in milk chocolate)
Also....for trinket gifts...the keychains that are replicas of wellington boots. I picked up a bunch at Kew Gardens but saw them a nearly every National Trust property we visited.
Oooh Lush - I went to Canada and spent a fortune there.
I love stuff from Boots - the nicest smelling shampoo ever.
Anything with a pix of Charles and the lovely Camilla
Careful with the English style party crackers (the ones you pull and contain a hat and a gift) - these contain a tiny firework in the snap and will probably fall foul of airplane regulations. And I have seen them in US department stores too.
