Preliminary research on California Wine Country
Hello,
We live in Montreal, Canada and were looking into driving part of the coast, and spending some time in Wine Country. We are looking into going in either May-June or September of next year. Are those nice times to be there? Can anyone recommend an Itinerary for 7-10 days? We are pretty open at this point, as we have never been anywhere in California. We definitely have a tight budget, so thoughts towards that would be appreciated. Thank you! Susan |
Which wine country in CA?
The most obvious might be Napa and Sonoma Valleys, but there is also the area around Paso Robles and - since "Sideways" more and more popular - the Santa Ynez Valley near Santa Barbara, not to mention the small wine growing region around Temecula further South. |
Anywhere anyone would recommend - keeping cost in mind!!

September is great for the harvest season. Comparing to June, the air is a little more crisp, the shadows have moved a few degrees, and the time change in October hasn't yet occurred. Most of the limos full of weddings have coursed through Wine Country by September.
Why not search here for others' itineraries and hybridize your own... Is your total "driving part of the coast" to last "7-10 days" ?? Or, do you have this amount of time for the Wine Country? Pis |
How tight's the budget. California can be a bit pricy. Give us a US$ range. Depending upon the area you chose, you can get great hotel accommodations on Priceline. ((b))
