Prego in Maui

So yes, I am Pregnant and going to Maui. Any advice on activities that I can actually do. I will be 5 months pregnant so I wont be very big ( I am already 3 months and not showing at all). Scuba, horseback riding, biking and parasailiing are out. Any good hiking ideas or safe activities?

Boat trips to Molokini for snorkeling. Molokini itself isn't the best snorkeling, but the boat trip is lovely. Kayaking. Snorkeling in general.

No boat trips...too risky for pregnant women.

But you can snorkel, laze on the beach or poolside, and enjoy easy hikes and strolls in places like Iao Valley, etc.

What's risky about a boat trip (seriously)?

gyppielou Apr 2nd, 2008 06:14 PM

from my understanding, the trip to Molokai is the second windiest turbulent harbor on earth......the other, as I recall was somewhere in New Zealand.

really michelle, there are so many great drives and beaches to explore that paid excursions are really not necessary. short hikes to beaches throughout the island are all I'd need, other than

Sashimi Neapolean at Haillimaile General Store.

Save your money and time and simply explore and savour the true aloha of the island.

I'm not at all suggesting it IS safe, I'm just wondering what makes it unsafe, particularly for a pregnant woman.

Oh gosh...I thought someone was looking for spaghetti sauce in Maui! :)

Thank you, OO. I thought maybe this was a generation gap thing. Is "Prego" the current word for "pregnant"? That was a new one to me.

Michelle -- congratulations! I went to Maui 5 months pregnant too. It's such a bummer because I was too big to look "normal" but not big enough to be "cute pregnant." Is this your "babymoon?"

Ask your gyno -- mine told me that cliff diving was out. Other than that . . . use common sense. I avoided the activities you described, but the one I didn't, playing in the ocean, got me. It's a long story but I ended up getting beat up pretty good by the waves and spent the rest of my pregnancy being seen by a physical therapist! If I had used common sense I would have taken one look at the huge waves and stayed on dry land.

If I were to do it again, I would spend all of my time at the side of the pool or on the beach. With a toddler running around now I definitely don't have that option.

Have a ton of fun.

Thanks for the help so far. Sorry about the Prego confusion :o)

What about Biking? I know the companies won't let you go with them pregnant but are there safe, down hill areas that I could rent a bike and go to?

"I will be 5 months pregnant so I wont be very big ( I am already 3 months and not showing at all)."
Oh, dear, this must be your first! Don't buy any clothing on the basis of THAT belief!
