Pre-vacation tooth woes!

We're leaving in 13 days for the U.K. and I needed two new crowns, which were put in a couple of weeks ago. I had to go back yesterday due to severe pain on one of them because it was "riding" too high. The pain went away, thank goodness, but now the whole side of my face looks as if it belongs to a chipmunk! I'm on antibiotics, but THIS BETTER GET RESOLVED BY MAY 12TH!!! Wish me luck!

Sorry - I actually meant for this to go on the Europe forum....

That's okay. We still wish you luck!!! I think your chances are good!

Thanks, Orcas. I appreciate your good wishes!

Hi--an unsolicited suggestion--if you are not a *lot* better very soon, get a 2nd opinion by consulting w/a dentist who specializes in restorative dentistry--that is crowns and restorations.

twina49 -

I've had a bunch of crowns done (due to a volleyball accident) - and replaced - they only last about 15 years - some with nervews that had died and some with live nerves. And frankly this doesn't sound right to me.

I'm not sure what riding high is - if it was made improperly you need a different crown - and that wouldn;t cause an infection. And the only reason for antibiotics is an infection - the reason for the chipmunk look - which is also not right with a crown. The last thing you want is an infection festering under there.

Also an improperly fitting crown can be excrutiatingly painful in flight (trapped air expands) and would be a disaster. I would get to an expert ASAP.
