pre theatre dinner in NYC
 

We are attending a showing of Sweet Charity and am looking for a restaurant for dinner prior to the show. It is showing at 302 W. 45th St. Would prefer if we could walk to the theatre, but not necessary. We like all different kinds of cuisine but aren't too adventurous.

what comes to mind at the moment are: Dervish Turkish (with good $20 prix fixe), La Cascina (10% discount if you show them your ticket), Left Bank Cafe, Joe ALlen, and Becco (I've never been but it's frequently recommended on this board).

Try doing a search on pre-theater dinner. There's been lots of posts on this topic.

Becco is fabulous. I always eat here for pre-theater.

we are at trattoria Dopo Teatro two weeks ago. it was excellent. there is a pre-theatre special menu or you can order off the regular menu. Its main stream Italian and very good food. Its on 44th between 6th and Broadway. You will need to make a reservation. We were there on a Friday night and they were turning people away.

There are literally hundreds of restaurants within walking distance of the theater......and a lot of them are very good.
How about an idea on price? Also, how about refining your choices a little narrower than "We like all kinds of cuisine but aren't too adventurous"? I find those two sentiments in that sentence at odds with each other!

Becco is great for Italian... a few other suggestions: Blue Fin is great if you like fish/seafood, its a very hip NY restaurant on 47th St. Hell's Kitchen on 46th is great for Mexican/Southwestern food. Marseille is good French-Meditteranean food.

Agree with HowardR - don;t understadn what you mean.

Do you mean I love Indian - for example - but stick to chicken, beef, lamb etc and don;t go for the goat?

Or do you mean I like american, italian and chinese - don;t reco anything else?
