pre- theater dinner in Boston

Hi,
I know this has been discussed before, but when I did a search, most information was not very current.
I have tickets to White Christmas at the Wang Center on a Monday night (7:30)for myself, my 15 year old, 22 year old and his girlfriend.
I would like to make it a special night, sort of a pre-Christmas celebration.
I am at lost as to where to go for dinner. I am thinking pre-show, which unfortunately will be pretty early.
Somewhere nice.(Though not outrageously priced) I would like to only have to park once.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Hi,
Any thoughts?

We like Legal Seafoods, in Park Square, just a couple of blocks from the Wang. The seafood is fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere is very nice.

cpeicott Nov 26th, 2005 05:24 PM

Hi,
Thank you.
We have been to several Legal's and I don't doubt if we end up there this time. It is always good.
Just wondered if there might be a different type of experince to make this a little more festive.

Penang

Wonderful Pan-Asian place, less than a 5 minute walk from the Wang.

I'd love to email you about White Christmas. Maggiano's is a walk away, Teatro, Cheeseburgers at the 4Seasons on sofa's....

cpeicott Nov 27th, 2005 04:40 AM

Curious about the Four Seasons. Do they have a "pub menu?"
I assume that the cheeseburgers are searved in the bar.
Do they offer other things?
Is there a fireplace?
Thanks.

Troquet on Boylston Street across from the common near the Colonial Theatre. Itdraws a large theater crowd. We were there Friday and at 7pm it was full.
The Fennel soup is a winner.

Maggiano's is a big disappointment unless you like huge tasteless portions..Rather go to Legal...You could go to McCormick Scmidt.. I haven't been there, it is a chain..Legal has improved and is so much more convenient and if you want to spring for dessert after the show Finale is in the area.. BTW we have been lucky in finding free parking spots..so go early..

wyatt92 Nov 27th, 2005 09:34 AM

Teatro would be my first choice. Alternates would be PF Chang's or McCormick & Scmick's.

Sara Nov 27th, 2005 09:47 AM

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention before, and ParrotMom did, for a special after-theater treat you can go to Finale for dessert. They have incredibly decadent desserts there, and that would help make the evening special!

Hi,
I went to the web site of Troquett and it appears tath it is closed on Mondays.
But thanks for the suggestion.

Depending on how much time you have... you're most certain to find a good meal in the North End for some Italian food. You'll get an amazing dessert at Mike's in the same area but I can't remember the street. Everyone knows the place once you get into the North End though.

4S has a good dinner menu in their bar area. Eat on a couch or pub table. It's called the Bristol Lounge. Very convenient for theatre, and often a pianist playing during dining. Also, the Ritz, in their "pub" I think, has some sort of fondue pre-theatre. Sounds like a great night. Have fun!

There's a great pizza place (California Pizza Kitchen just accross the street. Really good.

We just stayed a week in the theater district. We ate at McCormick and Schmick's, (chain, but good), M.J. (?)Connors Irish Pub and Jacob Wirth Tavern....all walking distance to the Wang.

Sibling Rivalry...yes, that's the name...two brothers with competing menus on the opposite pages...outstanding eatery...very unique variety...loved it when we were in Boston for granddaughter's college graduation at The Wang Center! I believe you can walk to it from the parking garage next door to the Wang...it's in the renovated, now upscale South End...(a bit pricey but well worth it for a special occasion)

You could also do Davio's on Arlington Street, it's no more than a 5-minute walk from the Wang.
Even though it's a chain, I always get a good meal at PF Chang's.
Teatro is another good choice.

Have fun!

Dear gyppielou,
I would be happy to have you email me, though I am hesitant to post my email adress here.(Though I am not sure exactly why I should not do it....)
I thought that the whole idea of a forum was to share our knowledge.
Please post you information!
Have you seen White Christmas?
If so,
How was it?
Thanks for your thoughts and help!

Once you publish your email on the internet, anyone can search (such as google) on your email address, and come up with where you've been.

I suggest Sibling Rivalry! It is on Tremont St. I work for Bob Kinkaid at one of his sister restaurants in the metro DC area and I love the food and the atmosphere is great. Here is a review and a link to the restaurant's site.
