Pre-theater dinner for Wicked?

Four of us (two adults, two teen girls) are going to NYC and have tickets to see Wicked for an 8:00 pm show at the Gershwin. Where would you recommend we do an early dinner? We like any type of food, but are having Asian the evening before. Budget is not a concern. What time should we plan to arrive at the theater?

Thanks for your advice!

"We like any type of food.....Budget is not a concern."
You better narrow down your request a bit, as there are literally dozens (hundreds?) of restaurants to choose from within walking distance of the theater!
As for arrival time at the theater, well, if you want to look at the program in advance, then 7:45 should do it. If not, be there by 8. Broadway curtains usually rise 5-10 minutes after the posted starting time.

Thanks for the info. For some reason, I'm leaning toward Italian (need some carbs for a 2.5+ hour show!). Is Lattanzi still good?

I like Remi for pre-theatre. The food is always good and they will get you to curtain on time.

Yes, Lattanzi is still very good, as is Remi. Actually, I might go with the latter on West 53rd Street.

I'll plug my favorite Italian -- Roberto Passon, quite close to Wicked at 50th and 9th.

Theatre district/Hell's Kitchen restaurants I've enjoyed include all the previously mentioned places (especially Roberto Passon) and Xing (upscale Chinese on 9th and 51st Street); Blue Fin (fish, obviously) on Broadway and 47th Street; Marseille (French/Mediterranean) at 9th Avenue and 44th St; and Jezebel(southern food) at 9th and 45th; Esca (Batali's Italian fish place) at 43rd and 9th. Oh, also Thalia at 8th Avenue and 50th is very reliable and good food. Check them out at www.menupages.com
