Post Ranch Inn worth the price?
I'm currently planning our honeymoon for next October & am debating whether or not to book a few nights at Post Ranch Inn. The place looks amazing, but it would be a stretch for us to spend that kind of money & I would hate to feel that we had wasted it. Any thoughts from people who've stayed there? Thanks...

I have not stayed there, but it's on my top 5 places to stay before I leave this world.
I've only had lunch on the deck there and went back for drinks that evening before driving back to Carmel. It's very private and is known to have a few celebrities stay there. If the rooms (which I too have seen on the web) are half as wonderful as the restaurant then it's worth the price. Lucky you! Go for it...then post your opinion and tell us all how wonderful it truly is! Congratulation on your wedding! |
Absolutely!!!!! Worth every penny! This is one of the most amazing experences on earth. If you can, do stay! It is a memory you will treasure forever. No tv, and no radio if the power goes ou, so if you like, take cd's. Tho, listening to nature, condors, earth sounds and each other will fill you souls.
You are welcome to view my albums to see it from my camera view compared to the website. http://community.webshots.com/user/mrskbg |
We just had dinner at Sierra Mar a few weeks ago. The property is VERY nice, it would be perfect for a honeymoon. Go for it! ***kim***

Have eaten there and it is a lovely location. We've stayed at Ventana which is across Route 1 and it was wonderful but I don't know how the rooms would compare with Post Ranch.

Thanks to all for the advice & Bodi, thanks for sharing the lovely pictures...they pretty much seal the deal for me! We're open to any other not-to-miss suggestions anyone may have about the area. This will be our first trip south of San Francisco.

Go to Carmel and stroll through the quaint, beautiful shops there. Carmel Beach is one of my favorite places in CA. Pt. Lobos State Park is a must see!
Go into Monterey and walk around Cannery Row and visit the aquarium. The wharf is also lots of fun. Pacific Grove is beautiful, dine at the White House and walk the trail that winds around the ocean. We like the cove there for lounging on the beach. Take the 17 Mile Drive and don't leave without a meal at Roy's! Have a great trip. If your new bride likes spas, check out the Spa at the Monterey Plaza Hotel. Views from the rooftop are beautiful! Ventana & PRI also have spas on their properties. ***kim*** |
I've always wanted to stay at PRI but it is really spendy for a room. I found this and thought it might work better for me and provide more space with a little better rate. In Santa Cruz area instead of Big Sure though.

What a place ! I honeymooned last year in California, and went there for lunch only. The place is breathtaking ! Whether you sleep or not, it is a must.
Enjoy your honeymoon ! |
We have stayed at the PRI and the Ventana Inn. They are both the finest accomodations that we have found anywhere in the world. Go for it!

What fun to learn a new place to explore! The Black Pearl Cottage looks very interesting, Thank You!

Thanks for the website, Suzie! The Black Pearl Cottage looks very nice. I've never heard of this property before! ***kim***

Yes...thanks! Black Pearl Cottage looks like another really option.
|
Whoops...I meant another really NICE option ;)

It's my favorite hotel in the entire world! Absolutely magical... the air is unbelievable... has such a sweet smell. The food is the best... Sierra Mar is by far my favorite restaurant in the world... for all meals! It's out of my budget too... but my husband and I stay in the butterfly room (the cheapest room in the hotel) and it's perfectly ok. For your honeymoon, I'd say GO FOR IT!
|
We've decided we're going to do it...at least for a couple of days. Thanks everybody for the great advice!

You will LOVE Sierra Mar, let us know how it goes! You will have memories that will last a lifetime. ***kim*** (~~)
